Rio was only going to be saying Kila's name (...her other name) until I realized how hilarious someone using a pet name for Kila is.

The Kickstarter was successful! Not only successful, but so successful that I have enough to add FIFTEEN PAGES to the book! I am thrilled! Thank you, everyone!

Kila made that map herself, which is why it looks awful and only has plot-relevant planets on it.

I'd imagine she'd have a lot of gratitude and affection for the one who saved her life~

Heheeh oh, just everything about this page is wonderful.

Intergalactic cell phone, maybe she got it from a certain doctor friend.

Reply Alohilani, 27 Jun 2012 07:33 pm

@MCE: Despite their rampant violations of real-world physics intergalactic cell phones aren't a huge deal in this universe... a lot of people have them. So she could have gotten it anywhere, really...

@Alohilani: Just a joke, in 'Doctor Who' (British TV series) the Doctor alters a mobile phone so it can call though vast distances of time and space, just so Rose can call her Mum occasionally. He somehow manages this with a few minutes and a sonic screwdriver. I just found this page reminded me of that.

@MCE: OH. Okay. I've watched Dr. Who and know the phone of which you speak but you were kind of vague and I thought you were talking about Pilau who has an identical phone.

Reply Guest, 27 Jun 2012 11:18 pm

@Alohilani: Fair enough, Although I don't think Pilau and Kila would ever consider each other friends.

@Guest: haha, maybe not

@Alohilani:

I like the artwork, but the story really isn't gelling with me. I really liked page 18 in particular, and the characters are dynamic and interesting. I just can't get into the story. I don't know what it is but something is turning me away from your comic and I can't quite put my finger on it.

@GabrielsThoughts: Feedback is always welcome.

@Alohilani:
That's good to hear. I'll just keep watching until I figure out what it is that's bothering me about your comic.

Nook? Just dived the archives, and loving it, this is definitely going in my dailies :J

Did the Nook publish not work that well for your mother? As soon as you mentioned KiLA iLO on Kindle I checked the Nook store, but didn't find it, and you'd *just* mentioned Kindle.

Reply Alohilani, 29 Jun 2012 03:07 pm

@Darekun: Thanks, Darekun!

Nook worked okay for her, though she wound up exclusive on Kindle so she could take advantage of Amazon exclusivity benefits. The only reason KI isn't on Nook right now is because the formatting is different than for Kindle, and I haven't found the time to get it ready for Nook yet. I apologize for the inconvenience! I do want to publish it to Nook when I can.

@Alohilani: Oh, come to think of it, have you considered .PDF? I've actually bought more .PDFs than Nook books, it's more broadly supported.

Reply Alohilani, 02 Jul 2012 02:39 pm

@Darekun: Hm, I'm making a PDF version to send off to CreateSpace for printing. It never occurred to me that I could sell the PDF itself. Where would I offer it?

Reply Darekun (Guest), 02 Jul 2012 07:09 pm

@Alohilani: Hm, most of the .PDFs I buy are gaming, like through e23.sjgames.com, but I don't think they do fiction… Google turns up www.ebooks.com and an Amazon category for it.

Reply Alohilani, 02 Jul 2012 07:13 pm

@Darekun: Thanks! I'll let you know how I end up peddling my PDF.

Reply Alohilani, 03 Jul 2012 08:02 pm

@Darekun: KiLA iLO is now available as PDF on lulu.com :) http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/Alohilani99

Reply Darekun (Guest), 04 Jul 2012 07:06 pm

@Alohilani: I bought it and, um, the DRM's pretty cripply. I tried opening it yesterday on my work computer, but it wanted to install stuff(poorly) and talked about activating on a few computers so I cancelled that. I got it home to Ubuntu, and Adobe Reader completely ignores it. On my Nook both first-party PDF readers reject it(with the same behavior as a completely-corrupt file).

I normally buy watermarked PDFs…

Reply Alohilani, 04 Jul 2012 07:17 pm

@Darekun: I'm sorry, I don't have any control over that. :/

Reply Alohilani, 04 Jul 2012 07:55 pm

@Darekun: At least, I don't have any control over how Lulu copyrights what they sell, but I can give you a replacement watermarked PDF directly. I won't be able to get it until next week, though. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Reply Darekun (Guest), 04 Jul 2012 10:44 pm

@Alohilani: Actually, thinking about it, it probably doesn't matter for me… I've voted with my wallet, and I have web on my Nook so eh.

So more for others/in the future, I recommend looking for a place that offers watermarked PDF :J

Reply Alohilani, 04 Jul 2012 11:43 pm

@Darekun: I might be able to do it on Lulu if I disable their copyright service entirely and watermark it myself. Thank you for the feedback.
